Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a "UI"?
A: UI is an acronym for "united inch," the combined inches of one width
and one height of a frame, e.g. an 8 x 10 frame is 18 united inches.
Q: If I select the courier option, am I still able to include glass in my order?
A: Yes, we are able to include glass in all orders, and we also insure every order at no extra cost, just in case.
Q: What does acid-free mean?
A: Acid-free means that the matting paper we use to frame our products contains no acid. This is important to preserve your work of art because acid plays a role in damage and ageing.
Q: What is the difference between plain glass, UV/non-glare glass and plexiglas?
A: Plain glass is the most commonly used product and is great for preserving your art. UV/non-glare is great for blocking out harmful ultraviolet rays that can cause damage and discolouration; it also softens the image and reduces glare. Plexiglas is an acrylic plastic and is very resistant to breakage.
Q: What is the benefit to getting my artwork professionally framed?
A: There are many benefits to having your art framed by a professional. We use the highest quality products to ensure it is contained in an acid-free environment. Framing also extends the life of your art and enhances it aesthetically.
Q: Why do you recommend that I upload a large file of an image to get printed?
A: Depending on how large a photo you want framed, the bigger the file size is the clearer it will be when it is printed. Generally, the larger the file size, the better the results.
Q: Am I able to get my photo printed on canvas or only paper?
A: We offer both options so that you are able to achieve a variety of effects.
Q: I have a painting on canvas that is stretched onto a frame; am I able to get it framed?
A: Yes, we offer a variety of frames that are deep enough to hold canvas. All our frames have the depth to hold stretched canvas. Still not sure? Don't hesitate to email our customer support.
Q: What is dry mounting?
A: Dry mounting is a process that is used to mount photographs, posters, artwork and objects that are water-sensitive. This flattens the artwork to give a clean, smooth surface. Dry mounting places a tissue adhesive between the art and backing that is activated by heat.
Q: Do you offer dry mounting?
A: Yes, we do! We offer dry mounting for a range of products from prints to jerseys and maps! Our pricing is $0.45 per united inch ($0.30 per united inch when a print with frame is purchased) but if you have an oddly-shaped object, please contact us for an accurate quote.
Q: Do you have special rates if I (or my company) require a high volume of prints and/or framing?
A: Yes, we do offer rates that are adjusted for larger-volume customers from people working in the art/photography industry all the way to developers and home stagers. Please contact us for more information.
Q: Do you sell framing supplies?
A: Yes, we sell bulk orders of everything from frames to all hardware. We also sell wire, hooks, locking bolts for expensive pieces hanging in public settings and crystal-clear bags. For pricing on these products, please contact us.
Q: To which areas of BC's Lower Mainland are you able to deliver by courier?
A: Our courier will deliver as far north as Lions Bay, and as far east as Harrison and Chilliwack. If you are outside our courier area, please contact us with your location and we will organize an alternate method of delivery.
Q: Do you offer multi-opening and shape matte-cutting?
A: Yes, we offer both services. Simply pick out the matte you would like, indicating the outside width and height. Then enter the multi-opening and/or shape information in the special request field and we will work with you to get the shape and openings you want.
Q: How will my order be packaged and sent?
A: We take the utmost care in packaging. Framing orders are wrapped and couriered to ensure the least amount of handling. Orders for print on paper or canvas, without framing, are wrapped and placed in a separate box.
